Catskill Mountain Shakespeare seeking Actors for upcoming production of Romeo and Juliet

Contract dates are June 16th-July 28th (includes Catskills housing).
Non Equity rate: $300 per week
Equity rate: Guest Artist Tier 2 + media
Seeking AEA and non-AEA actors for all roles. Join us under the tent in the beautiful Catskill Mountains for the summer. We strongly encourage performers of all ethnicities, ages, sizes, genders, and abilities to submit. We care about your identity and we are holding consciousness about the stories that we tell by putting specific actors in specific roles. We will have gender fluid casting for this production and we encourage people from across the gender spectrum to audition.
REMOTE SUBMISSIONS
Please submit a 1-2 minute Shakespeare or heightened language monologue of your choosing and your headshot & resume. Please indicate any instruments you play and your proficiency in your submission. Please also indicate any stage combat experience, particularly with knives, daggers, and unarmed combat.

LOCAL AUDITIONS
Saturday February 8th, 10am-3pm in The Orpheum Performing Arts Center at 6050 Main St, Tannersville, NY
Please prepare a 1-2 minute Shakespeare or heightened language monologue. Please also bring a headshot & resume. Please indicate any instruments you play and your proficiency in your submission. Please also indicate any stage combat experience, particularly with knives, daggers, and unarmed combat.
Please note this is a professional contract. Full time rehearsals are expected, with 10/12 technical rehearsals and 12 total performances. Must have a reliable form of transportation. Entire cast & crew must provide proof of vaccination.

CALLBACKS
Callbacks are in person in NYC scheduled for Sunday February 23 and Monday February 24. Please note- if you are called back for the roles of Romeo or Juliet, you will be asked to join us for a set window of time on one of the days. You will hear if you have received a callback by the evening of February 9.

Juliet: An intelligent, sheltered woman in love for the first time. Character pronouns: she/her.
Romeo: An impulsive, idealistic man in love for the first time. Dagger/ knife/ unarmed combat experience preferred. Character pronouns: he/him.
Nurse: Sharp-witted confidant of Juliet. Character pronouns: any.
Mercutio: A loose cannon. Dagger/ knife/ unarmed combat experience preferred. Character pronouns: any.
Benvolio: Built to lead and born to support. Character pronouns: any.
Tybalt: Proud and prone to violence. Dagger/ knife/ unarmed combat experience preferred. Character pronouns: any.
Friar Lawrence/ as cast: An anti-establishment holy person. Character pronouns: any.
Capulet (Capulets): Head of the household and upholder of traditional values. Dagger/ knife/ unarmed combat experience preferred. Character pronouns: any.
Montague/ as cast (Montagues): Head of the household and change-curious. Dagger/ knife/ unarmed combat experience preferred. Character pronouns: any.
